BUSY BUSY BUSY Weekend...AGAIN.
Friday was such an excellent day on the work front. The show with
Tammy continues to kick major butt and we got confirmation of
that from the boss man Friday midday. :)
We also have these stand-up meetings at the beginning of the
month and this one was special cause I got the employee of the
month trophy!! Ha. I didn't think I would I actually suggested that
both Tammy Oakland (doing shows from home with her hurting
back) or Anne Boswell who was filling in for her would get it.
My boss had great things to say and I'm flattered by getting it. Best
part is I actually get a parking spot that says EMPLOYEE OF THE
MONTH. Plus, I can just tell people to shove it if they look at me
wrong. ;)
Friday night was the Fountain Valley Relay for Life. I had been
attending the meetings and gotten to know a few of the people so it
was not as difficult as I thought it would be.
If you are new to the blog you may not know that my mother
passed away in January of this year.
EVERYONE was so supportive and it made the difference. I was
VERY emotional before everything started just walking around and
then they wanted me to say something before the Survivor and
Caregiver walk. That is when they walk the first lap to kick off the
relay and if you've never been it is VERY emotional just like me! Ha.
Sooooo...I did say just a FEW words about my mom battling three
times and how proud THEY should all be to stand there and walk to
find a cure. It was nice that I got to do that and there were some
very sweet comments.
SURVIVOR AND CAREGIVER WALK
I ended up walking a bunch of laps with Jenn. She is someone who
lost her dad three years ago, an aunt, and a family friend is battling
right now. It was nice to share with someone and she took a
picture of the luminaria that I made for my mom. I didn't plan on
"decorating" it but decided to at the last second when the markers
were just nubs. Looks like a second grader did it.
We got to see the sun set over the mountain range and the moon
light up the sky. It was beautiful.
Anyway - Jenn, and then Teri, Ed from the American Cancer
Society, EVERYONE THANK YOU!
Meanwhile...I miss my wife and the boys so much. I obviously have
been real busy to combat the emptiness of our house the past few
days and can't wait to see them when I fly in on FRIDAY of this
week. Yeah, I checked my flight and it's Friday morning. Oops.
Talk to you soon...
JC
